Weezer Co-Founder Patrick Wilson Launches OPUS to Steward Music Catalogs as Long-Term Assets

OPUS, an advisory firm for creative and intellectual-property assets, today announced its launch and a Pre-Seed round. The firm helps artists, founders, and family offices treat catalogs, masters, publishing, and brand as long-term assets that compound, rather than one-off paydays.

OPUS is led by Patrick George Wilson, its CEO and CFO, who is also co-founder and drummer of Weezer and the former CFO of Weezer Touring, Inc. That dual background sits at the center of the firm. Most people in music understand the art or the money. Wilson has carried both, on a stage and in a CFO's chair.

The firm's thesis is that creative ownership is mishandled because the art and the balance sheet are usually run by different people who do not speak the same language. A catalog is not a trophy. It is an asset that either compounds or quietly leaks value, depending on how the rights, the masters, and the brand are managed over decades.

OPUS works across three audiences: artists and creators with catalogs worth protecting, founders building long-term equity value, and family offices stewarding generational wealth and intellectual property. The firm brings both sides of the table into one room, the creative and the financial.

The Pre-Seed funds the OPUS platform build: rights and royalty data infrastructure, a catalog valuation and cash-flow modeling engine, and client-facing analytics and reporting, plus the engineering team to ship it. OPUS is based in Carlsbad, California, and was founded in 2024.
